New NH 750 OEM Tach for $350

Postby jay2tall on Fri Apr 25, 2008 2:36 pm

I just thought I would share this with everyone. I am the owner of a 92 NH 750. The tach went out on me last year and I fixed it using the guide on this site. Worked great for 6 months or so, maybe was a little off but not much. Well then it died and in trying to fix again I screwed up the little coil in the tach. Well I contacted salvage yards and all wanted $250-$300 for a salvaged tach. A new one was $500 from the Honda shop. So I searched online since last year and finally found this site: http://www.servicehonda.com/test/index.htm
I ordered the tach and after shipping it was $350. I recieved it yesterday and installed. Completely new and working great, looks kinda funny cause the speedo need is faded and this one is new. But I'm happy and saved me from spending $500+tax. Just thought I'd share. The site is a little confusing but im an IT professional so I understood. You are basically Terminal Servicing into a machine they have setup in their store with the whole Honda electronic catalog to find the proper parts. Pretty cool.

Service Honda is great. I haven't ordered anything from them but know alot of people who have. AJ (the owner) hangs out on another Honda Dirt bike site I frequent. He's a genuine guy.

With the price I payed, that goes to show the huge markup the dealers pack on these items. I'm very happy now that I ponied up and bought a replacement tach. It's nice to see it working again.
