Idle on 1982 Nighthawk 750

Postby nchenier on Fri May 01, 2009 12:26 pm

Hi everyone,

Quick question on adjusting the idle of my bike... on past bikes there
was usually a small knob I could turn with my fingers to raise or
lower the idle speed of my bike. Working on a new project and there is
no such screw.

The 1982 Nighthawk 750 has 4 carbs (in-line)... once the engine warms
up, it idles around 4,000rpm... I would like to bring it back down to
1,100rpm... can anybody tell me how would I go about lowering the idle
on that bike?

I've confirmed that it's not the throttle cable that is adjusted too
tight, it stays at 4,000rpm when there is no tension.

Any help appreciated!

Thank you,

Nic

I figured it out... idle adjustment screw is under the carbs, smack in the middle... first time I come across this setup! Live and learn.........
