Hello. Newbie here, with some questions.

Hi everyone. Just got me a 2002 nighthawk 750. Just got it registered today, and still need to get it inspected, so I haven't ridden just a whole lot yet. I have a few questions that maybe you guys could help me with.

1. I need a new back tire before I get my inspection as the one on it is dry rotted. I want something that is performance oriented, as it will probably be grippier, but something that is also well suited to wet as well. I will be riding in dallas traffic, so I need to to be able to maneuver quick without loosing its grip. I figure you guys probably have some good recommendations for this.

2. I just got the bike, and all in all its in almost mint condition. It has 12k miles, and the oil was changed 30 miles ago. It did set for about 10 months though before I bought it. I had a hard time getting it to idle at first, and I understand now that these things are cold blooded. I added a bit of fuel cleaner and fresh gas, and adjusted the idle up a bit. Seems to run great now. I still want to take it to the dealership and have them check the carbs and sync em. How much does this cost?

3. Spring preload. What should I set this too? I will probably rarely ride with a passenger. It will mostly be me and a couple of bags with anywhere between 10-20lbs of stuff.

4. How do I remove the luggage rack/sissy bar? Is it as easy as taking the shock mount bolts out and then slipping it off?

Hey Malice,

I put on a set of avon tires...I'll get the exact models later...absolutely transfomed the bike! Like going from manual steering to hyper-power steering. Made it so much smoother in high speed sweepers, I couldn't believe it. Maybe because I went from bias ply to radials? Don't know, don't care...the bike handles incredible.

As far as the carbs, if they're working o/k, leave 'em alone. No sense putting out good money for nothing. Look at my post in "how do I" for a tip on making them better driveability-wise, and save your money for use on something that will really make the bike more enjoyable.

:)
