Eastern WA Nighthawker

Hey there.

Cooter here. I just got a hold of my 92 NH 750...selling price was FREE! Dude at work said it has carb issues (thats what the dealer told him...it doesnt have carb issues i recently found out) and didnt want to pay for the repair bill. Therefore, he sent out a company email and asked if someone would pick it up. I sweet-talked the old man into picking it up in Friday Seattle traffic (4pm--thanks dad!) and couple weeks later, its mine.

Its the red one, (I wanted black, oh well) has a rifle on it, corbin, good meats, and its clean. Body is straight, no dings or scuffs.

Trouble is it dont wanna start. Hey for a free nice looking bike, Im willing to do some investigation work on it.

Anyhow, glad to be a part of the site. I'm number 6 as far as registrants goes. I plan to stick around and help the site grow.

Thanks
Coot

Starting seems to be a familiar problem with these bikes.

I myself just picked up my first bike, my first Nighthawk. It's a 91 with 18K, corbin seat, soft bags (removed), vance & hines exhaust, windshield, new battery and new tires. It too is the red one. OH... I got the factory seat w/it too. It looks new.

This one starts fine when it's not warmed up. As soon as it warms up, click - click - click - click, no start.

I took the starter apart and everything seems good (dirty) but good. I dropped it off at a local amishman's electrical shop to have him rebuild it and make sure everything is up to snuff.

First thing I want to do is change the lights over to LEDs. Out here in the backwoods, it's dark and I want to be seen.

Hopefully this site picks up

Yeah, SF, its working!

It was the coil wires. They were crossed to the wrong cylinders. It was really easy to fix once I had the Factory manual. Thats the best tool to own in my opinion.

The weather is changing and all i have to do is get my license.

WESTERN WA NIGHTHAWK

Postby Timbo on Mon Jan 12, 2009 11:01 pm

Cooter . . . Timbo over in W. WA here. I just got my first bike about a month ago. Its a '03 750 Nighthawk. Mines red, but I was looking for a black one. But its all mine. Wish mine was free too . . . I found mine for $2500 with 9K miles on it. I couldn't be more pleased.

Haven't ridden much with the weather, so far I've just been doing the tune up things, got a battery maintainer, figured out where the air filter is, found out how to change the plugs, Found a couple of the NH manuals free on line, which was good cause they don't have one for the 03 NH yet.

Want to get used to the clutch before I take my Safety course, so when it warms up, I hope to get it out of the garage.

Anyhow, just wanted to say hi.

Hey Cooter!

I'm a newb here too, just haven't introduced myself yet. Kind of lurking I guess. I live in Wenatchee. I just bought a 92 with 28K and it looks new and runs the same. Mine is black, so it's the faster one(haha).

See ya around.
