Clutch Slipping

Postby viola628 on Wed Jun 03, 2009 6:20 pm

New to the forum, been riding my 92 nightwawk for about 2.5 years. I just rolled over 16000 miles.

In the last week the clutch has began to slip during hard acceleration. The clutch cable is in good condition and seems to have plenty of adjustment left in it. It feels like the clutch is not fully engaging after shifts. Is there an internal method of adjustment?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You can loosen the nut to the clutch cable to let it engage more but other than that you probably need new clutch plates.

Thanks man. I bought a manual and have been reading up on it. Do you need the Honda universal clutch center holder and Honda locknut wrench? I figured you could get the center locknut off be just putting the bike in gear. But what about the locknut wrench?

Theres a tutorial online only i cant find it right now. Its for older Nighthawks but practically the same. You should be able to do it without any special tools.
