Carb Needle Washer Mod

Postby Nightrider on Thu Nov 06, 2008 7:04 pm

Hi,
Im brand new to the forum. However not new to the website. I have been studying the site for some months now. I have a '92 Nighthawk with about 16,000 miles on it. A couple months ago I did the Tim Hodge mod. I drilled it all the way going with 5 3/8" in each side. :D I was very pleased with the results. However, I am now looking to do a little more. I was looking at the carb needle washer mod. It looks like what I want to do. I have been looking at the Dynojet, but I am a poor 23 yr. old college student...so...that's out. I am not mechanically inclined at all. I have a sort stupid question...Is that particular mod done to all four carbs? Also is this a job that someone with hardly no mechanical inclinations can perform?
Thanks for any replies.
When I purchased my nighthawk it needed some TLC. I have done a couple of things to it. I will be getting a new paint job on it in a couple of days. I will post pictures. I look forward to exploring this forum and meeting new people. Thank God my wife loves 2 ride!

All four carbs need to be done.

If you are not mechanically inclined, I'd try to find a friend who is. It is relatively easy, but if you rip a diaphragm in the card, it is very costly for such a small item.

Make a friend with a good set of tools and the know how.

Thank you for your response. I have one more question. Would it be best to have the Honda shop sync my carbs b4 or after the mod to the carbs? Or not at all? It seems like it would be best to get the optimal results.
Thanx

Definitely after. You may change the settings a little when modifying them.

Your welcome...it's just a little slow around here sometimes.

I learned a bit from the site when I first signed on, so I am repaying by helping when I can.

I just installed the washers in my 92, very easy job and can definatly feel a difference. I didn't synch the carbs after and it runs perfect!
