carb/exhaust mod

Postby vixious on Sun May 31, 2009 3:06 am

I am currently in possesion of a 2001 nighthawk 750, and a vance and hines 4 into 1 exhaust, ive been sitting on the exhaust for over a year now as ive lacked the funds to have the carbs rejetted. I found the page on the washer carb mod on this site,a nd was curious if anyone had tried that modification with the V&H 4-1 pipes.

the reason for the re-jet with these pipes would be to richen the fuel mixture to offset the leaning out from the new pipes? or am i horribly mistaken?

any advice would be greatly appreciated, as i can afford the washers and have those pipes on in no time if that would work, and it would stop my drooling over the damn things after so long

Last june when I picked up my 92 it had been sitting for a year with the carbs full of gas, what a mess. The po had put on a V&H pipe and claimed to have rejetted, nope stock jets in there. I went up to #38 and.. I forget now, but it was 2 sizes up from stock on the main and small jets.'
Best pricing I found was from http://www.chaparral-racing.com/Chaparr ... AB3811738E

All 8 jets overnighted was in the $40 range.

Good luck.
