Air hoses 92 nighthawk U.S. (non-cal.)

Postby ponchojuan on Fri Oct 10, 2008 9:12 am

Well, I'm finally going through my carbs and doing the washer trick as well. My bike like many has always run really lean and slow to warm up.

I ran into something a little strange. Seems the two air hoses that come from between the 1,2 and 3,4 carbs are not attached to anything. Basically they appear to be 3 inch or so subs of hose connected to nothing. Is this correct for non-cal/ca carbs? The hoses show no clamp marks so my guess is they have always been like this.

Is this correct or is there another way this should be rigged? I can take a photo or send a schematic if someone can check their bike or knows.

thx,

poncho

Items 1 and 2 are California only.

Thanks for the diagram. So, the lines appear to be just vents when not attached California style. Is this your take?

I'll have to look at mine. I don't remember a lot of hoses. Maybe yours is a CA model with the vapor canister removed.

That's what I thought, but I asked at the dealer, and they said no, the hoses are just vents. Not sure the guy knew what he was talking about. Seems silly since a bug, water, or what ever can work its way up those hoses. I doubt there are any screens in the carbs where they attach.

If you check youer bike let me know. The hoses start at the front of the carbs, but end up coming down between the rear intake boots, and just hang there.

PS: Waiting to get an adjustment tool for the pilot screws; missing all this great riding weather here in Boston.

In the above diagram the hoses at points 13 and 17 are just bowl vents and do not connect anywhere else, they just vent to atmosphere.

Wish I had that problem... I got a CA model with all the junk.
